Weddings

WHO CAN BE MARRIED IN CHURCH?

You may marry in church whether or not you are Christened and whether or not you are a long term member of the congregation.  If you have no connections to St Martin’s, but would like to be married here, one option is to come along to our services for 6 months, after which you can discuss your plans with the Vicar with a view to having your banns read out a month or so before the wedding.

We also understand that spiritual beliefs can be complex and varied, but this need not be a barrier to a church wedding.

We also offer weddings to those who are living together or have been divorced and wish to remarry, but this must be discussed with the Vicar beforehand, as there are certain criteria to be fulfilled.  The church also offers ‘family friendly’ weddings for couples with children.

There is also a special ‘Service of Prayer and Dedication’ or church blessing that can take place after a civil wedding.
